The Diesel Equipment Technology program at Greenville Technical College's School of Aviation, Construction and Transportation Technologies provides students with the solid foundation employers are looking for. With an emphasis on Commercial Semi-Trucks, students can apply classroom, digital and hands-on instruction, to work in the Heavy Equipment, Electric Power Generation, Marine and Locomotive industries.

Diesel technicians are in high demand and this is projected to continue through 2034. Students can choose from Commercial On-Highway Trucks, Heavy Equipment, Electric Power Generation, Marine and Locomotive industries.
Employment is very stable, with 86 percent of our graduates over the last 10 years remaining in the field.

Industry Partnerships are the driving force behind the success of our Diesel Program. We have partnered with over 65 employers setting up a pipeline for hiring students. Many of these industry partners serve on our Diesel Advisory Committee board.
Our industry partners tell us what they want in a student, and we deliver. Our industry partners hire 98% of all our students.
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence/National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (ASE/NATEF) certification ensures that training meets or exceeds industry standards.

This certificate focuses on semi-trailer, auxiliary power unit, advanced braking and advanced drive train system troubleshooting, diagnostics and repairs.

Mission
The Diesel Technology certificate is designed to prepare graduates with the necessary technical skills to become a diesel technician. The student will receive a well-rounded education including basic knowledge and mechanical theories with significant hands-on experience. Graduates will have a solid foundation of knowledge to confidently execute the well-acclaimed ASE certifications.
